Are you an experienced land capability and soils consultant who is passionate about working with primary industries to identify and implement best practice landscape and soil management?
Pinion Advisory is looking for a highly experienced and motivated land capability and soils specialist to lead our soil consulting portfolio, supporting a team of technical specialists and growing opportunities across Australia.
With location flexibility, this role will include opportunities to work locally, as well as develop and support exciting projects across Australia. Flexible working conditions can be negotiated.
The role will include a mix of field work, developing high quality and practical plans for clients, strategic planning and engaging in a wide range of business development activities.

Who are we looking for?
Pinion Advisory is looking for a client focused, commercially oriented lead consultant, with a strong land capability and soils background.
Technical skill sets we are looking for include:
- The ability to conduct soil profile assessment and soil surveys across Australia
- Experience in determining land capability and suitability for changes in land use
- Knowledge and experience in agriculture and irrigation development
- Strong soil amelioration knowledge and skills
- An understanding of GIS and soil mapping packages
For success in this role, you will require:
- Tertiary qualification relevant to the technical scope of the role (e.g. natural resource management, soil science, geology, etc.)
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in a similar (or relevant) role
- Minimum of three years demonstrated experience as a soil surveyor
- Experience in business development and project management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the capacity to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- High level interpersonal, liaison and negotiation skills
- Accurate and systematic approach to work with the ability to prioritise competing tasks
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
- Well-developed leadership skills
- Ability to work autonomously and also effectively within a team
- High level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated alignment to the company philosophy – its’ vision, goals and culture
- Good knowledge of general workplace health and safety requirements, risk assessment and risk management
- Current driver’s licence

Examples of the technical environmental skill sets we are looking for include:
- Native vegetation, soil and landscape impact assessments
- Feral animal monitoring and management plan development
- Contaminated site assessment
- Environmental monitoring
- Environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy development
- Greenhouse gas emissions management
- Climate resilience strategies
- Recycled water, biosolids, composting and management of other organic waste streams.
For success in this role, you will require:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. environmental, earth or natural resource science, ecology, soils, hydrogeology etc)
- A minimum of eight years of experience in a related role
- Consulting experience, with a demonstrated talent for building new business
- Demonstrated project management experience in a commercial environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a keenness and ability to manage existing clients, build new client relationships and work within a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously, as well as working with colleagues based locally and working in our other locations
