We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Pinion Advisory partner, Sarah Jones, has recently been awarded the 2024 Tasmanian Water Professional of the Year at the Australian Water Association (AWA) TAS Galah Award Dinner. The event recognises the outstanding talent and contributions of individuals in Tasmania's water sector.
Sarah has long been recognised for her technical capability and leadership in the water industry, with over two decades of professional experience gained from roles in water utilities, local government and consulting. Working on a wide range of water and waste management projects throughout Australia, Sarah is at the leading edge of scientifically sound, sustainable and practical water management solutions.
Pinion Advisory colleague Mel Rae said, “Sarah’s a strong advocate of ‘picking the scab’ and always asking more questions to fully understand the crux of a problem. This innate curiosity, paired with her experience and leading a great team of water professionals, makes Sarah highly valued by her clients.”
In addition to Sarah’s technical expertise, she is also a much respected and valued member of the Pinion Advisory team. As a manager of Pinion’s national water and environment group, Sarah is a strong advocate and mentor for her team members.
Tasmania’s 2023 Young Water Professional of the Year winner and Pinion Advisory engineer, Isaac Probert, said he was inspired to nominate Sarah for the award because “Sarah has a real commitment to the water sector in Tasmania, through her technical work and mentoring of young people. She has also volunteered on the AWA Tas Branch committee for over ten years. She’s given a lot to the water community in Tasmania, and her efforts deserved to be recognised and celebrated.”
The AWA Tasmanian Water Awards highlight the innovative research, inspiring leadership, and ground-breaking infrastructure projects championed by its members. AWA Chief Executive Corinne Cheeseman commended all finalists and winners for their role in fostering sustainable water solutions and community resilience.
As we celebrate Sarah's well-deserved award, we look forward to her national representation of Tasmania at the Ozwater’25 conference and exhibition in Adelaide next year.
Congratulations once again to Sarah Jones, we are very proud of you!
