Meat & Livestock Australia’s BredWell FedWell (BWFW) is a practical, one-day introductory workshop on how productivity and profitability can be improved through good breeding and feeding over the livestock production cycle, with a specific focus on profit drivers.

Workshops are hosted on-farm and aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of producers so they can:

  • Develop a customised breeding plan for your cattle enterprise aligned to your profit drivers
  • Identify sires and select animals that help you meet your objectives
  • Learn about feeding animals well to achieve your objective and maximise your genetic investment

Feedbase Plus

A new program delivered by Pinion Advisory, Feedbase Plus is designed to support Pasture Principles graduates to build upon the guiding principles of pasture management and become confident in developing and maintaining a strategic feed budget for their livestock system.

WHAT WILL BE COVERED IN FEEDBASE PLUS?

Designed to continue the Pasture Principles journey, Feedbase Plus offers a supported learning environment for producers to increase their knowledge, confidence and skills in the following areas:

  • Build and maintain a strategic feed budget for your grazing enterprise.
  • Accurately measure pasture growth and calculate animal feed requirements across the seasons.
  • Understand and interpret feed budget outputs including:
    • Match feed supply (pasture growth) to feed demand (animal feed requirements).
    • Identify where feed surpluses and/or deficits are likely to occur in your grazing system across the year.
    • Make informed tactical and strategic business decisions based on individual on-farm data.

In addition, participants will have access to:

  • Pinion Advisory’s feed budget tool.
  • Recorded video tutorials to assist in developing and maintaining the feed budget out of session.
  • Support from an experienced coach to assist in tactical decision-making for seasonal grazing management.

Feedbase Plus is supported by MLA’s Profitable Grazing Systems program and is offered at an introductory price for 2025.

Join us for a series of free workshops delivered across South Australia to support the resilience and efficiency of farm teams. These workshops, jointly funded by the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund and the Government of South Australia, aim to improve teamwork and communication within farming businesses across the state. Led by Pinion Advisory's People Development Consultant, Bron Stedall.

"In today's challenging agricultural landscape, a cohesive and resilient team is more crucial than ever," says Bron Stedall. "Our workshop provides hands-on strategies that can be immediately applied to daily farm operations, fostering stronger relationships and more efficient collaboration."

This professional development opportunity is designed for farm owners, managers and employees seeking to foster stronger relationships and collaboration. Farm Employment Mentoring Program

Learning together to develop skills and systems to lead and manage farm teams

Implementing employment systems and positive workplace changes takes time and requires support. Attending workshops and reading new information is an excellent start. What can make this even better is support for change in your business to make sure it sticks!

The new Farm Employment Mentoring Program has been developed to provide information, templates and support along with ongoing mentoring. This ensures the change that you wish to implement will happen.

Over two years, you will participate in ten workshop sessions (both face to face and online) and access one on one support. Working with your peer group at each session, you will learn new information and importantly have the skills and support to get it underway for your busy farm team.

Each key aspect of employment will be tackled in detail with time to share experiences and knowledge within your peer group. Sessions will focus on both HR operations as well as culture and leadership. Topics covered will include employment fundamentals, systems to streamline management, developing culture, managing owner burnout and growing as a leader.

The first group will commence in February 2025. We encourage you to sign up with your management team, attend together and share in your business growth.

Grain Producers SA (GPSA) is partnering with Pinion Advisory to deliver Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) Baselining across South Australia's cropping regions. We are seeking your involvement as a South Australian grain producer in this unique project that will contribute to the establishment of a South Australian grain production emissions baseline for the first time.

If you are a South Australian grain producer, we are offering you the opportunity to put your name forward to be involved in this important project and receive a personalised farm GHG emissions baseline valued at more than $4,000. The data that growers provide to GPSA, working with Pinion, through this project will be de-identified and used to form a South Australian grain production baseline. This baseline will feed into GPSA's Sustainability Roadmap.

Pasture Principles

Pasture Principles, developed by Pinion Advisory, provides a group training environment for farmers to learn the guiding principles of pasture management, allowing them to work confidently regardless of the season or system. Pasture Principles is delivered as 7 sessions over a 12-month period, including one day of theory and six on-farm coaching sessions, allowing time to put theory into practice. Each coaching session is aligned with key seasonal changes and provides the opportunity to build knowledge and skills alongside a group of like-minded peers.
